2 CORINTHIANS 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments & every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, & we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

TELL THE STORY OF PAUL & SILAS IN ACTS 16

When Paul & Silas went to prison, they must have been scared & probably angry since they didn’t deserve it because they didn’t do anything wrong. Sometimes people mistreat us or call us names & we don’t deserve those things at all. We know those unkind things that people say about us aren’t true because God made us & only God can say who we are, but mean words & actions can still hurt our feelings & even make us angry & make us think about saying unkind things back. Paul & Silas had those same types of thoughts & feelings, but they chose to make their feelings & thoughts obey God. They praised God. We need to praise God not only when times are good but also when times are hard. They praised God so much that the earth shook & their chains fell off! Obeying God & praising him is how we break free in difficult situations. We can make all our feelings & thoughts obey God by doing the right thing even if it isn’t what we are feeling. Do you think the jailer would have given his life to Jesus if Paul & Silas just fought & complained the entire time? When you make your thoughts & feelings obey God, others will notice how you respond & it will help others come to know Jesus.
